Oregon Live: Fairview Employees Trial by Media

leave a comment »

It seems the Oregonian and OregonLive have seen fit generate bad blood by publishng derogatory comments of on employee records of the Fairview Training Center. Is this legal?

None of these circumstances were tried to my knowledge and essentially is a form of McCarthyism and amounts to trial via media. Since when are employee records made public?

Published are the online reported abuses by employees of the Fairvew Training Center in Salem, Oregon.

How can any of these people now get a job now that Oregon Live has published their names in such a unsubstantiated context? Worse yet, there are no clear identifiers on here so persons with similar names in the state of Oregon will have a terrificly difficult time finding work.

The intention here I think is to get a big audience, not to inform. What do you think? First Amendment gone to far? Right to know? They had it coming? I’m open for comments on this one.
