Text Messaging: Not a convenience. More of an insult.
I have an abundance of friends who believe they are on the edge of something big if they send a text message instead making an old fashioned phone call. Truth is, unless they know you are in church, meeting or a movie, there might be no bigger insult than receiving a text message on your cellphone.
Truth is life is really too short for text messaging.
1. Chances are if you can’t afford the cellphone time, you can’t afford the cellphone.
2. If you value your friends, you value their time and won’t force the inconvenience.
3. You can communicate 47 times more information in a two minute conversation than than 2 hours of text messaging.
4. Truth is text messaging takes geometrically less bandwidth than a phone call. That’s why it is so profitable over phone calls.
